Search of anti-leishmania active compounds from crude drugs and medicinal herbs
Leishmaniasis is tropical infection, and specific medicines are still unknown. People (at least 12 million people) in the world suffer from this illness, and are waiting eagerly for the curative medicine. This subject of research performs screening which used the cultivated protozoan mainly for tropical crude drugs and medicinal herbs. Compounds with anti-leishmania activity are isolated, and their structures are determined by full uses of the large-sized precision instruments (NMR, X-rays, and MS) which are the special features of this study. This aims at contributing to development of a curative medicine.
Chemical study of the ingredient of hallucinogenic and narcotic plants.
Many things called "illegal drugs" are originated from plants. These are spreading as substitution of drugs or psycho-stimulants, and it is necessary to take the abuse preventive measures. The research on the structure of hallucinogenic and narcotic ingredient in them and the research and development about the detecting method are performed, and it aims at contributing to the society as a pharmaceutical researcher.
Elucidation of the active ingredient of crude drugs and Kampo medicines.
Kampo medicine demonstrates the effect for the medical treatment of Alzheimer disesase and dementia. We search for the wide range of crude drugs and Kampo medicines, and tries the elucidation of active ingredients which involves.

It aims on solving functionalities of useful natural foods by means of isolation and identification of physiology active compounds from them.
