これまで、薬物動態学、薬物代謝学を研究基盤として、外来異物、特に有機塩素系化合物の代謝、薬物代謝酵素誘導作用、血中甲状腺ホルモン濃度低下作用メカニズムに関する生物薬剤学的研究に取り組んできました。生物薬剤学、薬物動態学は薬物の生体内動態を研究対象としているため、薬物が生体に投与された後にたどる吸収、分布、代謝、排泄の過程を生理学的、生化学的、物理化学的にとらえる知識が要求されます。この薬物の体内動態に関する知識は、適切な薬物の投与設計を行う上でも重要であるために、薬物動態学は臨床薬剤学とも密接に関係しています。それゆえに、薬物代謝学を中心にして、薬物動態と薬効、毒性の関係を解明することで、有効性や安全性の科学的な評価による創薬と最適な薬物療法の構築に関する研究を積極的に推進していきたいと考えております。
香川薬学部薬学科を卒業した者は、すべて薬剤師免許を取得し、薬学のプロフェッショナルとして、医療の現場で活躍することが期待されます。そこで、我々教員の使命は、個体レベルから分子レベル、遺伝子レベルに関する疾病の予防、保健衛生、薬物治療に関する広範囲な専門的知識を身につけ、それらを総合的に活用し、自立して、公衆衛生ならびに医療活動を遂行できる薬剤師を育成すること、また快適な地域医療環境の創造と整備を推し進め、健康の維持、増進に役立つ高度な専門技術を身につけた薬剤師を養成することであると考えております。
とりわけ、臨床の現場において柔軟性を持ちチーム医療や地域医療に参画できる薬剤師、技術の習得だけではなく自らコンセプトを樹立することのできる薬剤師を教育することが重要であると考えております。さらに、社会のニーズに答え、狭い医療薬学の専門分野に留まることなく、生命科学、情報科学、環境科学のいずれにも強い薬剤師、よりグローバルな観点から国際社会で自分の意見を述べられる薬剤師の養成を目指したいと考えております。
香川薬学部を卒業した者は、自ら目標を立て、自ら日々精進し、薬剤師として自分を育てていける薬剤師であり、その卵を教え育てたいと考えています。また、常に自己努力、自己研鑽を重ね、社会が要求する薬剤師を、香川薬学部出身の薬剤師がブランドとなる薬剤師を育てるよう、また共に育つよう学生と接したいと考えております。また、医療に携わる者としての倫理感、人間の生命の根幹に関わる職務に従事するという自覚を身につけさせたいと考えております。
さらに、香川県民、さぬき市民の疾病の予防や健康に対する意識の高揚と啓発にも力を注ぎ、地域住民の健康の維持、増進に対しても積極的に取り組み、地域に溶け込み、根づき、受け入れられる香川薬学部に発展させていきたいと考えております。

私はこれまで、生理活性物質の有機合成的手法を用いた創薬、あるいは生理活性物質の植物内での代謝フローの解明に関する研究に従事して参りました。香川薬学部薬物動態学講座では、それらを研究基盤として薬物動態学あるいは薬物代謝学の研究に発展させたいと考えております。さらに、本学部薬事科学講座の丸山徳見教授らによって見出された低分子初の血管新生促進剤、COA-Clの構造活性相関について解析し、LC/MS/MSを用いて本化合物の生体内動態についての研究を推し進めたいと考えております。
教育に関しては、香川薬学部の学生達を「薬学共用試験CBT」および「薬剤師国家試験」に合格させるよう最大限努力するとともに、就職後、薬剤師として現場で役立つ講義を推進したいと考えています。とりわけ私が当講座の加藤善久教授と共に担当する「薬剤学」や「薬物動態学」は、薬学部でのみ学ぶことの出来る科目です。それらの科目の習得は、卒業後、薬剤師として働く上で直接役立つ必要不可欠な知識や技能となります。今後、香川薬学部の学生達が、講義で培った知識に加えて、薬局・病院実習において知識、技能、態度を習得し、卒業後は真に社会に貢献出来る薬剤師として活躍出来るよう、精一杯の教育活動を行っていく所存であります。
